Increased investment in bioenergy in the Brazilian market generates savings in industrial sectors.

Due to the dry season, the cost of electricity can affect companies in industrial sectors that rely on the use of larger machines.
Because of situations like this, many industries have been looking for ways to save electricity in order not to be caught off guard during peak times.
One example is an industry in Itapetiniga - São Paulo that, in order to reduce costs in electricity usage, turned to the use of biomass bioenergy. The company works with wood processing for the production of cellulose for paper. Now the company has started to allocate part of the wood produced and the wood residues from forest harvesting for a different purpose.
Part of the wood is now being used for the drying and grinding process to produce wood chips. These wood chips are then used in energy generation, how?
Due to the high calorific value of wood chips, the industry has used them for burning in furnaces. These furnaces, prepared for energy production from heat, have been producing around 500 kW of electricity from the wood chips. Since the amount of electricity produced represents a surplus for the company, the industry now uses only a third of the electricity produced, and the rest is injected into the national electrical grid for sale.
Through this process, the industry achieved more than expected through bioenergy, as it not only was able to produce enough energy to save during dry seasons, but also became a constant source of profit, as a large amount of electricity has been sold to the national grid.
The equipment used in the wood grinding process was the mobile Lippel Raptor 900 Forest Chipper equipped with a diesel engine.
