Benefits of the use of compost in agriculture

Recently the municipality began to distribute free of charge organic matter for composting the more than 200 family farmers and small producers. The benefits of the use of this rich organic compound are clear.

Before, the city used several teams, with trucks and servers to collect the branches and store them in a landfill that occupies an area of two hectares. Now with the production and distribution of chips, the work is now done by a single truck with a shredder chippers Lippel, and the space in the landfill was free, since the volume of the material was reduced, and the material distributed to the agricultural producers.

Composting improves soil quality, helps to replenish organic matter, in order to recover nutrients, reduces the average temperature and favors the micro-organisms in beneficial, making the plants more healthy and resistant to pests and diseases, reducing the need of the use of pesticides.

This initiative is an example of how the management of natural resources such as organic waste to benefit the municipalities because it diminishes the time and space required for the disposal of the material. Also benefits agricultural producers and agro-forestry to improve soil quality and reduce production costs.
