Large-sized wood chips

News02 de August de 2025

Wood chips are a renewable resource, composed of sheared chips obtained from logs or other types of wood. In the vast majority of cases, wood chips are of common size, meaning their length varies between 25 to 40 mm and are mainly used for energy production in furnaces and boilers. They have good energy characteristics and better performance in terms of flow in silos.

However, there are other applications that require wood chips with larger dimensions. Their size ranges between 63 to 80 mm and they have a longer burning time and weight, which is generally required in older boilers. At Lippel, we are attentive to the demands of our customers, and we have the engineering expertise to develop machines that meet their needs. For example, the PTML 240/320x600, which is considered a small to medium-sized forestry machine, is producing 70 to 80 mm wood chips. A special rotor was developed for this application. Larger machines can produce even larger wood chips.
