Lippel Briquette Factory Wins International Award

News04 de October de 2026
Carbon Diversion America Latina, a partner of Lippel in Mexico, won a bioenergy competition with a Lippel briquette factory.
The Cleantech Challenge Mexico is a national competition aimed at supporting the development of the Mexican "green" industry, by creating a common platform that includes government institutions, international development agencies, NGOs, industrial and trade associations, academic institutions, and the private sector in the country.
The competition started in May 2011 and had the participation of 128 Mexican clean technology companies and over 550 entrepreneurs. It lasted almost 6 months, during which the participants received 120 hours of advisory on topics such as sustainability, technology, intellectual property, "green" marketing, project development, strategic planning, and others.
After meeting privately with each of the finalist companies, the Executive Committee determined the winner of this second edition of the Cleantech Challenge Mexico: Carbon Diversion Latin America, a business partner of Lippel that installed a factory to produce briquettes in Mexico from agave bagasse, a plant used to make tequila (a globally known alcoholic beverage).
"Carbon Diversion Latin America is a company that represents everything a Mexican entrepreneur should be. It is a company that identified a problem and sought a real and permanent solution. By utilizing waste from the tequila industry, it produces solid biofuels that can replace fossil fuels. It has patented Mexican technology and a business model that allows for continued growth and direct contribution to the country's sustainable development. This is a transformative, real, and permanent solution for Mexico," said Dr. Luis Aguirre-Torres, President of the Cleantech Challenge Mexico 2011.
Lippel has 35 years of experience in biomass processing for energy generation. We provide complete factories for the production of briquettes or pellets, developed according to the type of biomass to be used as raw material.
"Renewable and clean energy sources: our inspiration."
