Forest chippers for renewable fuel production

News23 de June de 2025

Have you ever stopped to think that many discarded waste can be transformed into a source of clean energy?

Currently, the world is suffering from Earth's warming, caused by the greenhouse effect, and this makes the need for sustainable products consumption increasingly necessary. A sustainable product is a product that goes through a production system that can be maintained, that is, capable of meeting the needs of its production without affecting the needs of future productions.

One way to help the planet, prevent landfill accumulation, and obtain a high-quality product is through wood recycling. Wood recycling allows the production of a product called wood chips, which are small pieces of wood resulting from grinding.

Wood chips have a high calorific value, these residues can be burned directly in boilers and furnaces, generating thermal or electrical energy, or they can also serve as raw material for the production of pellets and briquettes, which are compacted solid fuels of high density. Thus, wood chips are a clean and sustainable energy-generating product, as wood is a renewable resource in the environment.

The production of wood chips is done using a device called a Forestry Chipper. The forestry chipper is capable of shredding various types of wood, from branches and tree leaves to logs and entire trees. These chippers are extremely powerful and productive, even producing 70m³ of wood chips per hour.

The PTML 240-320x600 plus forestry chipper is a model produced by Lippel, which allows the production of wood chips. These forestry chippers allow the equipment to be moved to the work site, facilitating the production process and avoiding the need to transport the material to the chipper.

This model of forestry chipper can be used directly in forests, where it utilizes all forestry residues, branches, leaves, bark, and other residues. Another application that can be given to the PTML 240-320x600 plus is for urban cleaning, where it shreds tree and shrub prunings, turning them into wood chips that can be used for composting or garden decoration.

Among the main advantages of using wood chips as fuel are: it is a sustainable fuel, it is less polluting than fossil fuels, it reuses residues that would be discarded, and it stimulates local employment.
