Lippel has just completed the delivery of a BL 115x240 mechanical piston briquetting machine to a renowned company in the agricultural sector dedicated to cotton production. This advanced equipment, with a production capacity of up to 4,500 kg/h, was designed to transform the waste generated during cotton processing into high-quality briquettes with a diameter of up to 115 mm. Cotton, a widely cultivated natural fiber, generates a significant volume of plant waste during its processing. Improperly disposing of this waste is not only costly but also represents a waste of raw material that could be better utilized. Briquetting presents an effective solution for treating these residues, compacting both the husk and the cottonseed. The process uses pressure and temperature to interlace the plant fibers, releasing natural lignin and transforming the bulky raw material into high-density briquettes. The briquettes produced by the new briquetting machine not only reduce waste volume by up to 80%, making transportation more economical, but they are also thermally stable and have a high calorific value. This allows them to be used as solid fuel in furnaces and boilers, or even sold, generating a new source of revenue for the company. In addition to their application as fuel, briquettes can also be used in animal feed, especially in confinement systems, where they can be offered wet for better hydration, contributing to savings in feed purchases.
